The Lander University Academic Symposium

2026

Have you written a paper or created a project that you're proud of?  Are you currently doing research?  Is there a topic you'd like to explore in depth?

Submit a proposal for the Lander Academic Symposium!

The 2026 Academic Symposium will be held on the LU campus the week of April 20-24, 2026.

Most events will take place in the Lois Grier Room on the 3rd floor of the Cultural Center. The multidisciplinary poster session will be held Thursday, April 23 from 4-6 pm in the Cultural Center Commons

Why?  Because this is a great opportunity to professionalize, show off your best ideas, and earn a credential for your résumé or grad school applications.

Proposals for the Lander Academic Symposium are due by Friday, March 13!

Step 1: Ask a faculty member to be your sponsor for this project.  Ask them whether your project would fit well at a conference and if your department is already planning to hold a Symposium event.

Step 2:  Write an abstract—a one-paragraph summary of your project.  Proofread carefully and work with your faculty sponsor to perfect your wording, as this info will be published in the conference proceedings. Need inspiration? Check out abstracts from past Symposium Proceedings: https://www.landerhonors.com/the-2025-symposium

Step 3:  In addition to the abstract, you'll need a 1-3 sentence bio. Proofread both the abstract and the bio very carefully!  They'll be printed in the conference proceedings.

If you have teammates on this project, collect their 1-3 sentence bios, too.

Step 4:  Once your sponsor has approved your abstract, submit your proposal online.

Graduate students and online students are welcome to participate! Digital events may be scheduled for online students.
